RedBike

Although some of you may know, but this season I will be racing with team RedBike out  of Edmonton. It should be a good time, and I am looking forward to it.

I would like to thank the DeadGoat Mountain bike club for having me as a member (Tim B, Pat Doyle, Ed Roddi, Erik Bakke, Tory Fahey, (excellent navigator), Tom B, Craig Stapler, Trish, Gerry, (smiling) Jack Funk, Linda, Geoff Clarke, Beavis, and all the rest of the gang. It was good learning experience, and I had some of my best times with them. The DeadGoats are the some of the nicest  people, and I wish them all the best..

Comeback kid. (maybe old fart, not much of a kid anymore)

Having been arguing to myself for the longest time about whether  to make a comeback or not, I have decided I'm not getting any younger and I am going to go through with it.  As for when I am fighting etc, I will keep you posted.

Confusion

After finishing riding in mid november I hadn't touhced a bike until Jan 2. But the confusing part is I feel like I wasn't even off of the bike. Not that I am burned out or anything, just that it feels like I have some fitness already. (weird) Having riden four days straight just below lactate threshold (or what I assumed was) I took thursday and friday off.

This morning I opted to go hiking/running in the deep snow in the river valley with some gators on, and see if I could get some good pictures. The snow is about 3/4 of the way up my shin, and that is good enough to get a good workout.

This is the weird part. When I got home I had a little pizza thing, and started to make some pasta sauce and was going to ride the trainer while the sauce was simmering. The pregame for HNIC was on when I mounted the trainer, and I had planned to do some low cadence with high resistance intervals today to get my wattage up, and hopefully maintain the wattage as I lose weight. At the 30min mark I wasn't to fatigued, and figured something was wrong. It was like I couldn't work hard enough or something. I opted to do a max heart rate.

I dropped it into the fastest gear and had a cadence of 120+ max speed was 78km. I had it on easy resistance so don't think I am Lance Armstrong or something crazy like that. But here is the weird part. My maximum heart rate is 205bpm. I thought this was F*$cked, and went and got my other heart rate monitor out of the drawer in my tickle trunk, put the cell phones in the other room and turned everything electronic off just incase there was interference. Again it was 205bpm. Like wtf is going on I thought, and I didn't feel taxed like I would have last year. I am at a loss. I have no idea what is going on.

Here is a little history. Growing up I had pulmonary stenosis (pulmonary valve was to small) and this cause me to get sick lots as a kid. If I over did it physically or didn't get enough sleep I would get sick. Having this was a huge hinderance. Helping my Grandfather get firewood one time, I ended up getting Scarlett Fever and almost kicking the bucket. When I was 15 years old my pediatric cardiologist decided that she would try a new procedure called a pulmonary balloon autonomy. I was the first person in Canada to have this procedure done, and my Dr.'s name is "Dr. Ruth Colons Nakai". When she had done it she had told me that she had made my pulmonary valve a little bit bigger just in case.

In 1997 or 98 I had to go and get a stress test done on my ticker because my heart has a little mur mur noise. (idiot fight Dr.) Dr. Singh had no idea wtf was going on. The results of the stress test concluded that my ticker was in the to 1% of 18 year olds, and I was around the age of 28 and this made me happy. But I abused my body and figured I had an advantage but didn't take advantage of it. (stupid me).

After my result of the maximum heart rate I am going to see about getting checked out by a cardiologist, just to make sure. This is all weird.....
